One of the highlights of Kaokoland in the northern reaches of Namibia, Epupa is a magical belt of makalani palm forest lining the perennial Kunene River. There’s something special about this oasis located 180 km north of Opuwo, where the Kunene plunges into the gorge below – feel the invigorating burst of wonder called the Epupa Falls. 

Two hundred metres upstream from the cascading falls, Omarunga Epupa-Falls Camp is a cosy thatched lodge on the riverbank set under the palms, and the perfect place from which to experience Epupa enchantment. Activities are aplenty - take a guided walk in search of crocodiles, join a rafting excursion (seasonal), visit a Himba village and hop aboard the sunset drive to a hill above the falls to raise a glass to the magnificent scenery and the joys of travel as the sun raises its golden goblet in salutation.
