In Italy, people traditionally eat an "Easter cake", a salty cake with boiled eggs and spinach, or "Easter pigeon" - also called Paloma di Pasqua. This cake resembles the Guglhupf.

In many places there is a procession on Good Friday, in which the cross of the church is carried through the streets. The darkly dressed participants walk slowly through the alleys, the street lamps are turned off, candles are lit everywhere. People and church bells are silent. The resurrection is celebrated on the second Easter holiday during an excursion with friends or family - the "Pasquetta".

Experience the holidays in Switzerland with the Easter offers of our romantic hotels in the lagoon of Veneto, the famous Prossecco wine route or in the Dolomites.
